EXPLORING BUDAPEST HUNGARY

Last week I was whisked away to Budapest for two nights, for my birthday present from the lovely Mr C. I didn’t really know what to expect from Budapest, but oh boy was I in heaven. Everywhere we went was certainly picturesque and it was great to learn about the Hungarian culture and even meet a few of you!

Boscolo Hotel

Our hotel was certainly breathtaking, with marble everywhere and beautiful flowers in the lobby it certainly felt luxurious and the service was incredible. It was located very centrally so it was easy to get to everything, and someone had suggested visiting the New York Cafe and it’s actually in the Boscolo hotel! That was certainly a stroke of luck and I would recommend visiting the New York Cafe as it serves delicious cakes and food. Also, the architecture is simply stunning and a must-have for any keen photographer. The staff at the Boscolo were really friendly and we also had access to the spa, although basic it was great to unwind after a day of exploring the city.

Parlamento Building

This is probably one of the most iconic buildings in Budapest, it can be seen when landing on the plane and pretty much from every point in Budapest. This stunning building is the Hungarian parliament and is certainly worth a visit. We didn’t go in, but even walking around the grounds at sunset was a great experience. We captured some great photos and I think this was one of my favourite places to visit. The colours, especially in Autumn, look amazing on camera and Parlamento building is on most open top bus tours routes.

La Maison Grand

We decided to have breakfast out each morning as the hotel’s breakfast was quite expensive. So Mr C found this little gem of a cafe called La Maison Grand. It was certainly Instagram heaven, and it felt extremely Parisian. We had a cooked breakfast which was served cold weirdly enough, maybe this is a Hungarian tradition? The decor was stunning inside perfect for any blogger, I would definitely go there again.

Fisherman’s Bastian

On the second day, we took an open bus tour of the city as we felt this would be the quickest and easiest way around. It cost €23 and I’m so glad we did this as it saved so much time and we got dropped off outside the best attractions. One of the highlights of this bus tour was Fisherman’s Bastian, my lovely followers who I met the night before had suggested going here as it’s so picturesque and you get a stunning view overlooking Budapest. It was free to walk around the grounds which really do look like Hogwarts, but to go in the actual castle you had to pay. We also paid to get a bus up to the top as it was about a half hour walk from where the open top bus dropped us off. I highly recommend doing this as it’s very steep and once again it saved time and our energy.

Budapest certainly stole my heart, just like all the places I’ve been blessed to visit this year. I would never have picked Budapest myself, but I am pleasantly surprised at how beautiful the city and the people really are. I can’t wait to go on our next adventure together which will be Dublin in November, where I’m also doing a meet-up. I hope you all have a fantastic week!
