Running your own empire can be hard, challenging but equally rewarding beyond your wildest dreams, I’m proud to call myself a girlboss and wanted to share with you seven inspiring steps to becoming your own girlboss and slaying your dreams in today’s world.
1. Become Independent
The best thing I ever did for myself and my business was becoming fiercely independent last year, you need a thick skin to run your own business and sometimes you can be the only supporter on your team. Relying on others never works and can leave you disappointed, hurt or let down. Take time to realise your own magnificent potential and look back at how far you come and feel proud, you’ve survived 100% of what’s happened to you so far, darling you’re going to survive anything else that comes your way.
“I was raised to be an independent woman, not the victim of anything” – Kamala Harris
2. Stay Focused
Focus is something I constantly get asked about, I work every single day that the Universe blesses me with and I’m the happiest I’ve been in my entire life. So how can that be? Simply, because every single day I’m living life on my own terms, I’m making people happy and I enjoy absolutely everything I do (apart from the admin!). If you’re deciding on a business and don’t know what to do focus on your passion, at the end of the day passion will get you up and motivated every morning, money will never do this.
3. Invest Your Time Wisely
I struggle with this so much, creating a balance between work, a social life and my own down time. You will need to start realising who is worth investing energy in and who isn’t. Your time is precious and you should only be investing it in people who challenge you and help you to grow, positive people who also want to make a change in the world. My friend groups have changed so much over the last few years but I’m so blessed to have my family of fearless women as we all love, support and help one another grow.
“I’ve missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. 26 times I’ve been trusted to take the game’s winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life and that’s why I succeed.” – Michael Jordan
4. Grow A Back Bone
Sorry to disappoint you but you’re going to face some t***s in your journey, and for me personally it’s been from men. I wouldn’t call myself a feminist at all, but time and time again especially because of my age and success men belittle, make sexist comments and try to con my business. Why? Maybe it’s jealousy, bitterness but I’ve even found it in my previous relationships, men feel intimidated by fearless women who aren’t just going to be submissive and stay at home. Yet we live in 2017 where there are so many supportive and loving men out there who seek those independent women to help build empire’s together. The amount of times I’ve had to stand up, defend and be rude to some people is ridiculous and it also happens with competitors. All negativity stems from jealousy and unfulfillment in that person’s own life. Never react to it otherwise they’re will be two idiots in the room. So when someone is throwing shade at you just smile and think to yourself I hope you find the happiness you deserve. Then let it go, you know you’re worth and no one can ever take that away from you.
5. Help Others Grow
This is something I always preach, women need to help empower more women. Over the last few years I’ve seen and heard horrible ways women have tried to sabotage and ruin successful women all through biterness. Yet, if we all just helped, loved and supported one another there would still be plenty of room in the world and enough success to go around. So many women feel worthless and end up closing their businesses because of these people and it’s just a horrible thing to watch. We already live in a world of discrimination, racism and evil. As women, no as humans we should unite and work together to make others happy and help them to achieve their goals, helping others won’t make you any less successful it will actually make you so much more respected and successful within your own right.
6. Pick Yourself Back Up
There will be times where you want to give it all up and never get out of bed, I had a previous business to what I do now and I think many entrepreneurs are the same. Any setback or negative situation is actually just a positive, you are able to learn something each time and remember everything happens for a reason you don’t want something that isn’t meant for you! Picking yourself back up can be exhausting, but no one in this universe has become successful on a smooth, straight road. So embrace the bumps, the winds and the uncertainty you don’t need to know how it will all work out that’s the universe’s job.
7. Become Fearless
Remember your vibe attracts your tribe, so get happy, get supportive, and get positive because you will attract some amazing companions into your life. The business world can be scary and it also can feel like a lonely place sometimes, yet more and more people are becoming self-employed and succeeding because they’re dropping all the limitations that have been forced upon them throughout their lives. It’s your turn to do the same and realise that you are an incredible girlboss who can help so many people and that’s enough. You are so enough, and never let anyone tell you otherwise.
“There’s lots of bad reasons to start a company. But there’s only one good, legitimate reason, and I think you know what it is: it’s to change the world.” – Phil Libin
