Coconut Oil, no I had never heard of it either! I have seen a lot of this recently with friends using it and Celebs plastering it all over social media. So what does it do and how can it save you money?
Coconut Oil has a range of benefits all of which can help in your everyday routine. Now for the important part how much will this set you back? £2! Yes only £2 from Superdrug (125ml). So, now I will explain how your £2 will be stretched from saving your dull/dry hair to a anti-aging cream.
Leave in Conditioner
Coconut oil is one of the best natural nutrients for your hair. It helps in healthy growth of hair and gives your hair a shiny quality. It is also highly effective in reducing protein loss which can lead to various unattractive or unhealthy qualities in your hair. By regularly massaging your head with coconut oil, you can ensure that your scalp is free of dandruff, even if your scalp is chronically dry. It also helps in keeping your hair and scalp free from lice and lice eggs.
Moisturiser
Coconut oil is an excellent massage oil for the skin as well. It acts as an effective moisturiser on all types of skin, including dry skin. The benefit of coconut oil on the skin is comparable to that of mineral oil. Fortunately, unlike mineral oil, there is no chance of having any adverse side effects on the skin from the application of coconut oil. Coconut oil therefore is a safe solution for preventing dryness and flaking of skin. It also delays the appearance of wrinkles and sagging of skin which normally accompany aging. Coconut oil also helps in treating various skin problems including psoriasis, dermatitis, eczema and other skin infections.
Brushing Your Teeth
Calcium is an important component of our teeth. Since coconut oil facilitates absorption of calcium by the body, it helps in developing strong teeth. Coconut oil also stops tooth decay.
When opening the oil, it is solid in the pot press your fingers down and it will soon start to melt into your hand, moisturise this in your skin and you will instantly feel rehydrated and smell very tropical. Next for your hair, this was slightly more tricky with wet hair but it seemed to sit well, avoid your roots only apply at the ends and leave to dry with all your hair naturally. My hair certainly dazzled afterwards, smelt tropical and felt soft again. I’m hoping in time it will help with my damaged hair and will be a lot cheaper than buying Moroccan Oil! I don’t really fancy trying it as a toothpaste just yet, but let me know if it’s any good.
Let me know in the comments below if you use Coconut Oil and if it has helped you. Also if you have any more savvy tips for it’s use.
You can buy the pot I’ve purchased from Superdrug’s website for £2 currently on offer. This is by far the cheapest on the market!

Going to try this
I use it for my hair and its amazing. I use it for a pre-wash conditioner and it works great. I also use it if any of my skin feels dry including lips.
You can also buy the ktc coconut oil 500ml for around £2-£3 on ebay or any ethnic/world food shop. If you use a lot of it like I do its far cheaper to buy it this way. I’m also using it to mosturise under my arms (razor rash) &it can work in cooler weather as a deodorant but not a anti-perspirant as it kills the bacteria associated with the smell of b.o.
Its a wonder multi-tasking cheap&natural beauty product.
Everyone should try it!
Hi Emma, I have just purchased 2 500ml tubs of 100% pure coconut oil, premium quality, from Tesco in Dundalk, Eire, for 1.99 euro each, which works out at about £1.41 each. Haven’t checked with tesco in the north of ireland yet but that is amazing value in southern ireland. Got it to use for psoriasis to use directly on skin. Brilliant product
u can’t eat this! Read the label there are kinda that u can eat but the superdrug one u can’t. I use it to massage my baby and for a hair mask.
