Although I feel like I’ve been busier than ever with work during lockdown I’ve enjoyed picking up new books and finishing ones that I’ve been trying to read since autumn! One topic I’ve been recently pulled to which I feel is so relevant to us all right now – is fear. How do we return to love from fear and is love really the answer even during a pandemic? Well let’s explore that in this week’s blog post…
Over the years when people or spiritual teachers would tell me that love was always the answer I would question this or think ‘well it’s easy for them to say’. Before my spiritual awakening over four years ago, I didn’t have any self-love for myself and I definitely feel along my journey over that leaning into love guides us home. I’ve been reading Robert Holden’s book ‘Loveability’ during the lockdown after a friend’s recommendation and although I feel like give and receive love well in my life anyway, this book has been such a great reminder of how we need to continue to lean into love. One quote that really spoke to me early on in the book was ‘Let your teacher be love itself’ – Rumi
Let love be your teacher during these uncertain we find ourselves in. Let love lead you home to your heart center where you can remember your divinity. Certainly, this is a new experience for us all, no one has the secrets to navigate this as the truth is no one has been through this before. The only similarity we have is from our grandparents when they experienced separation and fear during the war. What brings my heart so much joy is seeing how kind humans are being to one another and how much sense of community is happening. Every Thursday evening at 8pm we come out of our houses and onto the streets to celebrate our incredible NHS and care workers. Captain Tom Moore a 99-year-old war veteran has raised over £27m for the NHS! I am still blown away by people’s kindness and support no matter how small or on a national scale. None of us expected to find ourselves here this year, but can you see the blessings in this time yet?

I don’t want to take away from the severity of the virus or the fact that people are losing their loved ones because that is hard and sad, really sad. If this is you I wish I could hold you right now and surround you with love. At times we feel at ease, in others we don’t and losing a loved one or seeing someone we love ill can be a fearful and scary time. I’m always a preacher of feeling your emotions and allowing yourself to feel what you need to. We should never suppress or bypass any fear – it’s all feedback we need to listen to. Love however, can guide back to a neutral place, back to ourselves and up the emotional scale. So ask yourself today – how can I let love lead me?
How could you be more loving to yourself and others right now? Have you been particularly hard on yourself recently or judging yourself? Yes, love always starts from within, so make sure you feel love within yourself first. This could be self-love, do you need to take some time out to look after yourself more of fill your own cup? Do you need to implement more loving boundaries in your life? Whatever it is self-love is the best place to start and make sure that you’re are prioritising this during lockdown (but every week too!). Next, how can you extend that love to your loved ones? How can you let love be your teacher here? Love can come in many forms but if you can allow love to flow into all areas of your life with grace you will notice the fear begins to subside. Little by little no matter how much fear is controlling your mind and emotions right now, you can return to a place of peace.
Now, this is all well and good but there will be times when you need to remind yourself of this. There will be times when you need to forgive yourself and others and there will be times where you will need to allow yourself to be vulnerable. This goes for when we’re out of lockdown too. Invite your angels or spirit team in today to help you align to love again and to witness that you’ve chosen fear and to choose again. A mantra I’ve created that you could use is ‘I allow love to be my guide and teacher and recognise when I have chosen fear and choose again’. There will be times when the waves of uncertainty can hit us Queen and that’s okay too, allow yourself the time you need to feel what you need to. This isn’t about bypassing or saying that any of us don’t feel fear during this time because that would be a lie, it’s about recognizing when you have allowed fear to take over and how you can return to a neutral or peaceful state.
