Over the weekend another four-week national lockdown was announced here in the UK from today and I won’t lie it brought on a whole array of emotions for myself and I know we’ve all felt the uncertainty and anxiety this year has sadly come with. It was only when speaking with a friend recently I realised that I’ve been running on default mode a lot this year to keep going, keep working, keep busy and this default mode has pleased my masculine energy greatly but this week I felt it was important to share with you how to soften and surrender this month and why this is important.
When things feel uncertain in life we can default into control mode this pleases the masculine energy we all have within us but can become unbalanced very easily. Over the last year or so I’ve really been working on softening into my feminine energy more and I really felt in a great place with this, but over lockdown due to the anxiety, stress, pressure, change, workload etc we all know what it’s done to us. I’ve felt myself slip back into that masculine mode, life has felt busy and I haven’t been present or intentional with the things I really want to in my life. Meaning I’ve not been softening, allowing, flowing, or giving myself time to slow down. So when the lockdown was announced I felt fear but also a relief of being able to slow down again and this time schedule out time for myself and not work myself silly. We can all be guilty of not doing this enough and what Mercury Retrograde and all the cosmic concoctions of 2020 have taught me is to keep softening and allow myself to be held, to be met and to flow which is a practice I have to keep leaning into. So for anyone who resonates with me on this I thought I’d share with you my top tips for softening and surrendering this month and what I’m committing to also.
Create The Space
First of all, you know it Queen we’ve got to create the space. So each week schedule out the time for self-love, self-care, relaxing whatever it may be but we have to slow down and create the space for this softening and surrendering to happen. For me, it definitely comes down to time and this month I hired another team member to allow myself to create this space and not feel like everything is on my shoulders anymore in work. When you create the space in your life support and miracles can come in, but when we’re busy and scattered in our energy there is no real focus or intention going into anything. So slow down, pull back, and create the space for intention and surrender to enter your life so that the Universe can step in and assist with the rest. Creating the space will create a big change in your life alone, so allow yourself to slow down over this lockdown and not put pressure on yourself. This is all about taking the pressure off yourself and flowing.
Next, once space is created it’s time to soften. How does the word soften make you feel? Before doing my divine feminine work it used to make my skin crawl now it feels gentle and light which is what I’ve craved in this weird and wonderful year. To me softening means coming back to myself, my energy, and bringing intention. It means slowing down, listening, and allowing myself to be held in all areas of my life, to feel supported, and to surrender. Softening is something I have been guilty of not sticking to over the last few months and I’ve been reminded of that loudly through Mercury Retrograde. Softening is a personal practice where you can create different rituals and practices that allow you to soften. I love yoga for this as it allows me to soften, slow down, and come back to my yin (feminine) energy where I’m still. So I would suggest journaling on what it means to soften and then how can you invite this into your day? Try some yoga or breathwork as again softening means being gentle and listening to yourself so go where you feel called to go.
“When you create the space in your life support and miracles can come in, but when we’re busy and scattered in our energy there is no real focus or intention going into anything. So slow down, pull back, and create the space for intention and surrender to enter your life so that the Universe can step in and assist with the rest.”
I also for this blog post put my phone on aeroplane mode because I kept checking my phone and this is part of my problem! I wasn’t even bringing intention to writing a blog about intention. See guys we can all hold ourselves accountable and no one is perfect no matter how many years they’ve been doing spirituality and self-development. It’s always about coming back home to yourself and consistency. Intention is really what I struggle with in terms of being present, bringing intention to all I do, and defaulting into autopilot. This is where the disconnection happens. I was getting annoyed that intention wasn’t being brought to me in my connections but I was the guilty party in all honesty. Remember all of our relationships are divine mirrors so any frustrations you do feel – look in the mirror and there’s your clue! To be present means to truly be present in that moment and bringing intention to all you do – whether it’s taking time to breathe whilst folding the laundry, taking time to smell the delicious food you’re cooking, or observing nature whilst on a walk. We are all so guilty of taking the little things for granted and missing so many beautiful things in all we do each day. So bring the intention Queen and be present with all you do, this will help you to surrender and stop you from future tripping too.
Create A Practice
Now you guys know how much I love a daily practice, so invite in softening and surrender into your day. Is this through meditation, yoga, breathwork, a walk, journaling, or something for self-care? What will allow you to slow down and be intentional? The most common thing I hear when working with clients is that they don’t have time for a daily practice, well where’s the intention or the slowing down in that response? I always remember what Tony Robbins said in a talk I watched a few years back when he explained to an audience member if you don’t have 10 minutes a day to be still you don’t have a life. A shocking statement but so true and it all starts with permission. Queen give yourself that permission slip to slow down, soften, and flow.
Lastly, how do we surrender once we’ve done all of the above? Well hopefully by allowing the above steps into your life and intentional practice you will already feel surrendered and feel yourself in a natural state of peace and trust. Not every day can be full of ease and grace but where intention goes energy flows remember so the more you show up for yourself and for this softening you will attract those feelings to you by the Law of Attraction. Surrendering is also a leaning in practice and when we feel stressed or we’re future tripping about something really all we’re doing is controlling. So take your hands off the steering wheel and allow yourself to be held, to be guided, to be present because that’s what true surrendering is. Not needing to control and accepting every moment for what it is. Look at the feeling behind the control – what are you fearing? When you can work on that and clear that fear you will also feel yourself in your balanced feminine and masculine energy.
