Over the last month I’ve been working on a secret project which I’m super thrilled to be sharing with you all today! I had the inspiration in early April to create a digital magazine to support us all during lockdown across the globe and to share some positivity and inspiration into the world. So today I wanted to share with you how I brought my magazine to life and the special cause behind it.
Creating your own digital magazine isn’t the easiest thing in the world, especially when you’re the one designing and editing the whole thing yourself! God bless Canva! Luckily after 8 years of design experience within my businesses, I do all my graphic work myself simply because it’s quicker and I like to be able to edit it. So once I had the concept ad the articles within the magazine set I got to work on the format and design. I won’t lie it’s taken up a lot of my time and friends who also have successful digital magazines have told me the same. So for me, this magazine was never going to be done monthly!
With the contributors selected and them creating magical articles, it was time to pick a good cause to donate to during COVID-19 for our ‘Stay At Home Issue’. I came across a charity called HEROES on my Instagram a few weeks prior and felt called to help them in particular. HEROES is a charity founded by NHS workers, for NHS workers. They exist to support the welfare and wellbeing of those fighting to keep us healthy and safe during the COVID-19 crisis, and beyond. Their services cover the physical, mental, and day-to-day needs of all NHS HEROES, from doctors and nurses to cleaners and porters. Their motto is ‘together, we’ll continue to make a real difference’. I felt really passionate about dedicating this issue to HEROES and helping them in the process by donating 10% of all proceeds to support our incredible NHS workers. You can find out more about HEROES here.
Once the fantastic contributors started submitting their articles it was time to put my graphic design skills to the test with some extra help from my good friend Alan! This part took the longest as each of the 26 articles and features had to be uniquely designed and capture the essence of the article and contributor. I’m so pleased with how the 50-page digital magazine turned out cover wise and inside also (who knew I’d be a cover girl?!). We have full-length articles from industry experts including – George Lizos, Kamran Bedi, Hannah Wallace, Jordan Bone, Natalia Szyszka, Kate from Coppermoon, Donna from Wildwoman, Grace Prosser, Vix Maxwell, Fab Giovanetti, Carolyne Faulkner, Kelly Bramblett and Simona Gordon.
We also have features including self-help book club, our top podcast picks, positive news from around the world, and our stay at home beauty picks. Tisserand Aromatherpahty has also been extremely kind and are giving away a ‘National Geographic Wellbeing Roller Ball Collection’ worth £22 to celebrate the launch of the magazine!
