For the last year, I’ve been on an incredible journey of discovery both for myself and for my happiness. Through positive thinking and self-development, it certainly hasn’t been an easy journey but I wanted to share with you my top seven tips for being positive and owning life.
1. Law Of Attraction
So you may have heard me speak about this a little on my blog now and heavily over on my YouTube channel. I first found the law of attraction last summer when I hit rock bottom, I started off by watching ‘The Secret’ and buying Rhonda Byrne’s other bestseller ‘The Magic’. I can wholeheartedly say that this book changed my life forever, it has transported me to a positive life full of abundance beyond my wildest dreams. I have found my faith in The Universe and am now able to help so many others transform their lives. Simply the law of attraction is all about positivity and that we create our own lives, so everything we imagine and speak we bring into our reality. Ever had that weird sense of déjà vu that you said this was going to happen? The law of attraction can help with every aspect of your life from health, relationships, self-love, jobs and even money. I spoke about how I manifested being debt-free in five days thanks to simply being grateful for all the money I had and thanking the Universe for being debt-free. If you’d like to learn more on the topic you can watch my videos here.
“Every single second is an opportunity to change your life, because in any moment you can change the way you feel.”
– Rhonda Byrne
2. Take Ownership
You need to take ownership for everything that’s happened to you in your life and everything that is going to happen. You have got yourself where you are today both good and bad! The moment that you realise you are in control of your life and what happens, is the moment you set yourself free from any limitations. Many will ‘suffer’ because they feel they can’t escape their situations whether it be emotional or financial. You can you’re the only one telling yourself you can’t and guess what you’re manifesting more of it into your life. By changing the way you look at things and realising that you are responsible for your own actions no own else, you can put an end to a vicious cycle of blame.
“Change the way you look at things and the things you look at change.” – Wayne Dyer
3. Don’t Become A Victim
It is so easy in our society to blame someone else and fall into victim mode. Stop, this is lethal to your own happiness and fulfilment. Last year once again my heart was broken, by extremely similar circumstances to the first ex-boyfriend. I instantly fell into victim mode and asked ‘why me?’ It’s only now a year on I fully understand why this pain had to happen. My first mistake was never forgiving and letting go of what the first ex had done by leaving me in £7,000 debt. Now I thank him for what he did because that debt enabled me to start a nationally successful business on money-saving, help people get out of debt and save money. If I hadn’t of had that bad experience I wouldn’t have all of what I do today, I wouldn’t be on This Morning and I wouldn’t have learnt the lessons I have done. So really there is no blame, only gratitude. Yes, it did pain me to pay that money off but what I’ve gained from that debt is far greater than £7,000. So last year once again I could have fallen into this trap and probably repeated this cycle again and again. Yes, again what happened hurt me more than I ever thought possible and was much worse than debt. I’ve discussed a small part of what happened on here, but the rest I will never discuss because that’s his karma, not mine. Throughout my transformation, I learnt forgiveness and to not hold on to all this negativity surrounding what happened. It is hard in the beginning to understand why these things happen to you. Nearly a year on now, I am once again thanking my ex for doing all he did because I am now living the life I always dreamed of. I needed to be set free and in doing so I rediscovered my faith, my independence, why I’m here on this earth and that I have so much more to do with my life. I hope you can see that absolutely everything happens for a reason and that really these ‘bad’ situations are sending you towards a bright future. All you have to do is make that choice and learn.
“If you do what you’ve always done, you’ll get what you’ve always gotten.” – Tony Robbins
4. Live Life On Your Own Terms
Since becoming self-employed three years ago now, it finally gave me the freedom to live life on my own terms and not settle for anyone’s s***. Throughout my employment of around three years after leaving sixth form, I was belittled, bullied and treated like rubbish by companies because they could. I see it in my own families and friends lives and as much as I try to tell them to walk away, there is always an excuse which is always money. I spoke famously about my F*** off fund a few months back and I still feel that is relevant to this topic. So many people are trapped by money and they would so easily be able to live life on their own terms by simply saying no more. By having a fund you can go to in time’s of need, means that you can leave that job, leave that relationship whatever is not serving your highest purpose and making you happy. You have a choice your just not making it, life is always about taking risks and the saying is true life starts at the end of your comfort zone.
“Imagination is everything. It is the preview of life’s coming attractions.”
– Albert Einstein
5. Walk Away From Negativity
This I think is the most important point in transforming your life and being positive. Last year my life was surrounded by negativity, whether it be people, clients or relationships. I had brought it on by not standing up for myself and doing the right thing. I became my surroundings negative, bitchy, dramatic and plain miserable. It was the first time in my life where my spiralling depression was that bad I wanted to end it all. This is not me and it still saddens me to think that I considered that as an option. I finally had the courage out of nowhere to walk away from absolutely everything that held me back, dragged me down and didn’t support me anymore. This was a very turbulent time and of course, those people did not leave quietly, when people can’t control you anymore they try to control how others see you. I wasn’t a nice person, I wasn’t anything to proud of I was broken and being at rock bottom gave me the chance to completely rebuild my life and be the person I had lost all those years ago. Still, although I very rarely have negativity in my life anymore the odd person will slip past. I’ve become so repelled by it that now I just walk away. You need to do the same, you can’t help everyone and sadly there are people in this world who use people and lie, but that’s their karma let them believe their own lies. Work on yourself and surround yourself with the positive people who cheer you on and who are there for you during your good days and your worst. Surround yourself with love and honesty and that is exactly what you will attract into your life. I’ve let go of many people and situations in the last year and it has honestly been the best thing to ever happen to me.

– Maya Watson
6. Trust Your Gut & The Universe
I’ve always been lucky in the fact I’ve listened to my gut from a young age. Although I may not have always acted upon it, I’ve known it would end up happening eventually. I knew from a young age what I would do in life but not necessarily knowing how I would do it. Once again the law of attraction taking place without me even knowing! I had a belief that I would be looked after in life and that positive things would happen to me, at the young age I was it seemed almost selfish to think the Universe owed me these great things. Apart from I didn’t think anyone owed me anything, I believed that I would make this happen no matter what. The Universe always has your back, it doesn’t want you to suffer or be unhappy in your life. It is constantly saying ‘Yes’ to you so you need to be aware of your actions in your own life. In my own experience, my gut has never been wrong. Now I know that when I let go of things that aren’t meant for me, even greater things come into my life it’s really easy to detach myself and walk away.
“Be thankful for what you have, you’ll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don’t have, you will never ever have enough.”
– Oprah Winfrey
7. Love Yourself
This is another vital point to this blog post, if you don’t succeed at loving yourself first, then none of the above will happen. One of the biggest parts of my self-development journey was to learn how to love myself again after years of letting people take advantage of my generosity and losing my identity in the process of emotional manipulation. At the beginning it felt impossible to suddenly love and respect myself, it did take a few months to get the hang of it. What helped me mainly was following the book ‘The Magic’ and doing the daily practices. What also helped me was treating myself, so I would go and have my nails done or a massage to pamper and give myself some self-love. Once you surround yourself with positivity it will come naturally as the people around you will uplift, inspire and show you how much you are loved. A year on I’m certainly still learning but for the first time in my life, I can say I am proud of myself and I love everything about me!
“When one door of happiness closes, another opens; but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one which has been opened for us.”
– Helen Keller
So I hope that this has inspired and helped you see your life in maybe a different way to before? You can choose to live the life you want at any time by just deciding to. Sending you all lots of love, abundance and I hope you all have a magical week!
