HOW TO EXPRESS & EMBODY CONFIDENCE - Emma Mumford

Confidence is something I’ve been lucky to have always had in my work, but in my personal life confidence is something I’ve struggled with since childhood. No matter how many stages I was on or performances my parents made me do I still felt I lacked confidence in my friendships and relationships. So this week I wanted to share with you my top tips for expressing and embodying confidence.

Authentic Self

First of all, to really embody and express confidence it must come from an authentic space. It must come from your true self and honour your truth and energy. Being confident isn’t some magical energy that you can manifest, it’s simply giving yourself permission to express and be your true authentic self without the fear of judgement. Now that is easier said than done, but when you can honour your true self and step into your power fully not only is this an amazing form of self-love it also allows you to take the action needed to feel confident and achieve your dreams. This could be something as simple as repeating the mantra ‘I reclaim my power’ or even doing a Solar Plexus and Sacral chakra balancing meditation to also have your chakras support and radiate this confidence energy too.

Express Yourself

Expressing your authentic self takes honesty, it takes you being honest with yourself about who you are and how you want to communicate or show up in the world. Many clients ask me how they can be more confident and put themselves out there in YouTube videos or Instagram live’s. The secret is that just like myself you have to show up and keep doing something until you’re not scared anymore that’s the only way to get over a fear unless it’s a deep-rooted limiting belief that needs to be worked on in the appropriate setting. Everyone worries the first time they do something or if they’re putting themselves out into the public, but remember you have to look at yourself through the eyes of compassion. Your first video probably will be awkward and feel cringy – but so are mine. Your first podcast you record may not sound perfect, but you can tweak and learn for next time. Experience comes from walking the path so through trial and error you will get it right eventually and feel confident in your work but it takes time, patience and not looking at yourself critically or with judgement. Judgement only hinders your confidence and progress moving forwards so please know everyone feels like this and practice builds your confidence, as long as you express yourself authentically and in your own way that’s all that matters.

Self-Worth

Self-worth also comes into confidence as really when we love and honour our self, we make better decisions and know we are worthy and deserving of our desires so take action to achieve these. Self-worth is a pillar of self-care, self-love and self-worth so to embody this you must have the first two consistently embodied. Self-worth can also look like feeling worthy and deserving of your desires which can stop you from feeling confident and taking action, so looking at any resistance, limiting beliefs or blocks is really important as when you clear these and fully embody your worth you will naturally feel more confident in voicing your boundaries, asking for your worth at work for example and be able to speak up with confidence and authority. A great way to start working on self-worth is with affirmations, making sure your Sacral chakra is balanced and saying no when you mean no, and say yes when it’s a hell YASS!
